Sandhill Cranes starting their morning routine
This is what I woke up to my after my first night out with my roof top tent.
These flowers were a surprise when I was walking the shore of the Rio Grande River. Definitely not what I expected to see. Gaillardia (Blanket Flower) is a long-blooming native wildflower that is easy-to-grow and provides ample nectar for butterflies.

A Canada Jay, formerly called a Gray Jay, and sometimes called a Whiskey Jack. These are clever little opportunists that love to steal scraps of food from camp sites.
